The weekend before Thanksgiving

It was the weekend before Thanksgiving and all was crazy. Me at home fighting a cold, baking for the upcoming holiday, and wrapping Christmas gifts. LOL Yep that is my life in a nut shell right now. No time for scrappin...and I miss it. I hate it when life gets crazy. I did however find time to make my bestfriend a card for Black Friday. It is tradition for us to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. Crazy some say....to us it is just girl's time. I got the idea for the card out of an old paper craft magazine. I just love how it turned out.

I Had so much fun!

Ok so this weekend I decided to make an acrylic album for my sister's birthday next weekend. Well to put the holes in the acrylic I decided to try out my fiskar's drill. Ok I have had this drill for 5 months and have not used it. All lI can say is it is AWESOME! It is so easy to use and it went through 5 sheets of acrylic no problem. Also, on accident it got my kitchen table too....My dh just laughed at me. This has to be one of my new favorite tools. Once I get the album all done I will post pictures. I just hope my sister love it.

Crop for a Cure!

Each Year 182,000 women are diagnosed with Breast Cancer and 43,300 of those die. One in every 8 women has or will have develop Breast Cancer in her lifetime. Also 1,600 men will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer and 400 of these men will die this year. This year cancer has hit close to home to one of the members of our site. We have been there to support members and family of members who are fighting Breast Cancer with our prayers and love. But, we feel we can do so much more to help benefit them as well as other families fighting the same battles.
Scrapncircle.com is preparing it’s first scrap-a-thon and auction to help raise money for a breast cancer clinic in Texas. The event will be held October 8 – 14, 2007, to help promote Breast Cancer Awareness month. We are asking our members to take pledges and donations to help for this cause. Each member will be asking the community to sponsor them based on how many scrapbook pages they complete during the week long event. Pledges start September 9, 2007, You can get your pledge sheet at
www.scrapncircle.com .
We hope you can come and join us to help a great cause. We have some great companies that have sponsored us with lots of great prizes for this crop. For more details or to sign up register at

We are so proud!

For those of you that don't know my daughter has decided to join the Army after she graduates in June. Today she is signing her contract and swaring in. I know that some people in my life don't necessarily agree with this decision. This is going to be the best thing for her. She is young and adventures and this will help her see there is life outside of her small town. Her father and I couldn't not be more prouder of her and we support her 100%. It is sad to see your children grow up. Just another chapter in our life that we are beginning. I look forward to sharing her adult life with her and supporting her in her decisions. Alyssa my love all the best to you. And no matter what people do or what people say just know that nothing is more important then what you want to achieve in life and that you have to love and support of your family to back you up. This is the most important lesson you will learn. We Love You!
Now I can officially say. Yes, I am a PROUD Army mom!

I started with an 11X17 piece of acrylic. I added some basic grey and holy cow rub ons. I also added a chipboard flower and It is a really simple layout and I just love how it turned out. I can't wait to work more with acrylic. I think my next project is going to be a mini album. Now I just have to find a subject!

Another Sunny Day

Another Sunny day in Cali. I guess I can't complain. 78 yesterday! Whoo hoo. At least we are not up into the upper 90s yet. (Knock on wood) But I know it is coming. Not much going on around here. Have a bbq/swim party for the gstroop today. That should be fun. I thought that I would also share this picture of Alyssa and Sam. This was taken at Sam's ROTC awards banquet. Don't they look great? We are so proud of both of them. The both want to enlist next summer after high school.

On the scrapbooking front friskateers.com is having an online crop this weekend I am going to try to check that out. Also, the gdt at scrapncircle.com is still wide open, so you should check that out. So after the party tonight hopefully I will be able to get some stuff done. I need to start organizing all the cards that we are sending to the military hospital. I have set a deadline of July 15th so hopefully they will all start rolling in soon. Thanks again to all the wonderful people who have agreed to help out our gs troop. Well everyone have a wonderful Saturday, I am off to clean house.

Cards for the Troops

CARDS WANTED
Hi, our Girl Scout Troop is working on a project to send packets to a military hospital in Germany. We have asked for help from our service unit and have received none. :-( So let me fill you in on what we are doing.
We are making card packets. These packets would contain blank decorated cards so that the wounded soldiers could use them to write home with. We are going to put these all in a packet with a pen and maybe stamps. Depends on how much help we get. We have a contact with a hospital in Germany who is anxiously awaiting these.
If you would like to help this is what we would need. Decorate cards, they can be any theme no specifics. Pretty easy!! Please just make sure that each card you make has it's corresponding envelope with it. Once you have completed the amount of cards you would like to send email me at gstroop362@pacbell.net and I will get you the mailing address to send them to.
We will collect all the cards put the packets together and send them to Germany. We would like to have all the cards to us by July 31, 2007. This will give us time to get them out.
Thanks so much for your help! My troop appreciates it. As a leader you want them to succeed at their projects so I am doing my best to make sure they do. ~Michelle
PS For all of you that help us out and donate cards everyone's name will go into a drawing for a great scrappy surprise just to show our appreciation!

In the Works

Ok so I thought the summer would be quiet but I guess not. I have some exciting projects in the works that I am super excited about. 1st project is going to be a charity cyber crop to benefit breast cancer. We are working with some big companies to help sponsor the crop. I am sooo excited about this one. The 2nd is going to be our father daughter dance for Girl Scouts. Yes for some of you I swore the last one was it...but here I am again. This dance is going to be in the fall and I think I am leaning towards famous hollywood couples as the theme. This should be real exciting. We leave for vacation on the 13th of July and we will be gone for 2 weeks. I am looking forward to the time away. I have my new camera now so I am excited to go and take some awesome pictures. Minnesota has such great beauty. I get to meet one of my online buddies while we are there. We are planning to hit the mall of america...watch out here we come. LOL So stay tunned for details on the charity crop. I promise it will be alot of fun!!!

When Life was simple

Remember when life was simple? You didn't have a care in the world? You were invisible! You see something on tv and you think to yourself thank god that will never happen to me! Then all of a sudden with a blink of an eye your world changes forever. What takes just a matter of seconds to undo will take years and heart ache to fix. Kids are you most precious thing in the world. You want to keep them safe and let no one at them. You teach them right from wrong. You tell them don't do this, don't do that, and never talk to strangers, don't eat that bug. You wonder to yourself have I taught them enough? Did I do my job as a parent? You just never know. ... Sorry for the rambling many of the things that are going through my head right now. ...

What a productive weekend

It was a great weekend. I got some spring cleaning done and still had time to play lots. Went to see Shrek. Not as funny as the first 2 but it was cute. I decided to join an online crop at the last minute and that ended up being a really good thing. It is a new forum just starting out http://www.cropalatte.net/forums I found them on myspace.com They are a great group of people and lots of talent on there. Wish me luck I also applied for their design team. I figure if you don't try you won't know....right? I got 5 layouts done and 2 cards. You should see the mess I have on my kitchen table. It will be fun tonight cleaning it up. NOT! LOL Here is my favorite layout from the weekend. I just got this paper from www.comingupdaisies.com it is the basic grey pheobie....LOVE it. Thanks Jeri for getting it to me sooo fast.

Yeah it's finally FRIDAY!!!

And I am sooo excited. I think my scrappin mojo is coming back. Probably due to the fact that I went through 10 magazines last night. Yep I took the jump and started taking out the stuff that I like. It is amazing how much room clears up when you toss them away. I have noticed though that I only like a few things out of each magazine, so it will be nice to have a smaller book. So I can't wait to get the rest of those cleaned out. So I found the martha stewart site today while surfing the net and I still don't know what to make of her new line. I was watching her show last night (thank you tivo) and I realized her style of scrappin is very basic it is kinda like going back in time. If you haven't seen it take a look http://www.marthastewartcrafts.com/index.php?v=msc_projects&sort=-price Let me know what you think.

Shrek 3....without a child???

Yes, this morning dh and I decided that we are going to see Shrek3 by ourselves without the daughter. She is not coming down this weekend so we are on our own. So we are trying to decide when is the best time to go...I can't wait to see it.
Well I have started my spring cleaning. I hate to clean but I am hoping that making myself get rid of things will simplfy my life. I am doing one small project a day to not feel so overwhelming. I keep looking at my scraptable and just walking away. I am taking Michelle's advise and going through all my scrapbook magazines and taking out the things I like then getting rid of the rest of the magazine. I am hoping to put a book together with just ideas. I think that is such a great idea. But we will see how much we get accomplished before vacation. I guess it is a good time to clean cause I have been in such a scrap funk lately and I haven't done a thing. DH still has to fix my printer...I love that printer!
Boy I am rambling today...I guess I better get to work. ARGH

Monday Monday

We had such a nice weekend. We went to Oroville to see the hometown parade and to visit family for mother's day. (I will post some pictures later) Everytime I go home I realize how much a miss the small town feel. I saw my old boss and his wife (WOW how 7 years changes you) and I saw my bestfriend and her boyfriend, and I saw friends from high school. They shut down the whole downtown area and had a huge car show, chili cook off, craft fair, and carnvial. We spend hours just walking around. It was great to just hang out with my parents. But now back to reality. Back at work this morning. Ahh Monday Monday.........
